Opens in Word 2016
The file downloads as RTF — Rich Text Format. It is the one format that every version of Microsoft Word, from 2003 to Microsoft 365, opens correctly every time. No compatibility issues, no "webpage" rendering.
Completely Private
Your PDF never leaves your device. All reading and conversion happens inside your browser using Mozilla's PDF.js engine — the same one Firefox uses. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
What Gets Extracted
All the text from your PDF, page by page. Paragraphs, headings, line breaks, and basic structure are preserved. The RTF file opens in Word with proper paragraph formatting ready to edit.
About Images
Images embedded in PDFs sit in a separate layer from the text and cannot be extracted by a browser-based tool. The text extracts cleanly — images do not. This is a fundamental PDF limitation, not a bug.
What Converts Well
Text-based PDFs — reports, articles, eBooks, business documents, academic papers. If your PDF was made from a Word doc or exported from software, it converts nearly perfectly.
What Has Limits
Scanned PDFs (photos of printed pages) contain no text layer — nothing to extract. Complex multi-column layouts or PDFs built from images only will produce little or no output.
💡 Tips

After opening in Word, press Ctrl+A to select everything, then use Home → Clear All Formatting if you want to restyle from scratch.

The Preview tab shows how the text looks before downloading — useful for spotting extraction gaps in complex PDFs before committing.

Use Copy if you just need a section pasted elsewhere — no download needed at all for partial use.

If your PDF is password-protected, the tool cannot open it. Remove the password first using your PDF software, then convert.
